QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q Who picks the teams?
A Rory leads the Youth selection.
Dave Welham and Carl Hastings lead the Senior selection.

Q A quick question, do you have to be EIHA registered to play in the summer league??
A JUNIORS and YOUTH
All juniors who are not registered EIHA will be registered by the league (there may be a small extra change for this)
That way ALL junior and youth players will be registered and therefore the games can be played under EIHA rules.

SENIORS
The seniors probably wont be as its just too difficult!!

Q I am looking to enter into the summer league for the senior age group, unfortunately the league in which I play in at the moment, which is run from Farnborough, runs at the same time as the summer league. At the moment I do not have the full season fixture list so I will not be able to tell if any of the games clash with each other as I do not wish to miss any games, would it be possible to pay the £60 to reserve a spot and then let you know nearer the time when the rest of the fixtures are released as to weather or not I will be able to play? If for any reason I cannot play would it be possible to be refunded the £60 fee as long as I let you know before a certain time?
A Yes that would be fine.
Will you please make a note of this on your application form.
The deadline is likely to be around 1st May.

Q My son was born in 1993; he wants to play in the senior league.
A Last year the tournament rules stated that those born in 1993 were juniors and those born in 1992 were seniors. And we were flexible.
This year we have to abide by the "U16 can not play with Over18" rule..

Q Is the summer league open to all ages, abilities and both sexes.  My daughter plays for the Firebees, and has been doing so only since end August 2006, her date of birth is 1994, so she will still be 13 years old through out the summer league time (just) but if you go by school year, does this mean she would have to play in the youth section..
A She will be welcome to play in the junior league. The age division between Youth and Junior is "common sense".
And I'll tell you a secret - we intend to print shirts for those in the border-line age groups so that they can be transferred to where they are best suited without a change of shirt colour or number.

Q I'm one of the coaches/Managers for an Inline Hockey team. We play as part of the BiSHA (South East region, or SESHA).
Some of our Team are interested in your Summer Tournament, but on reading the rules, I see you have to be registered with EIHA. Could you please tell me what this means/entails so that my players are eligible to play in this event. I'm particularly asking for my Goalie who would love to have a go at ice.
A Juniors/Youth The younger element of the league will run under EIHA rules. That means that any player will need to be registered with the EIHA.
But if they are not currently registered with an EIHA then the Bracknell Junior Ice Hockey Club will get them what is called a Summer Licence which last year cost £15.00. (TVSL may subsidise some of this)
For the moment I suggest they send in the application forms with £60 deposit putting None in the registration number box and put their trust Sue and me to get the paperwork done nearer the time. (Summer licences not being available until about May)

Seniors I would like to run the senior element of the league under EIHA rules too. Most of the players will already be EIHA registered as Under 16s, Under 19s, Seniors, Professionals or Recreational players. The problem with these registrations is they all carry different insurance types, they have different licensing systems and I would need to get permission from 4 different league chairmen, last year I tried and it did not work out. I think the registration for Recreational players is nearer £50.
For now I am assuming that we will run the Senior element of the league outside the EIHA in the same manner as it has been done for years.

Both Don't worry about EIHA registration for now, but please consider the possible extra tenner in your budget.

And Don't worry about being "signed" to Bracknell Junior Ice Hockey Club. We can release you within moments if you want to go and play at another ice hockey club next season.

Hope that explains, sorry its so long-winded. .

Q I am interested in playing in the summer league. Do I have to be registered in a team to do the league? I am 15 years old and I attend the Swindon rookies program every week. I have full kit and I am a confident skater and used to have lessons. I got to level 8.
Please can you e-mail me back if I am able to enter your summer league.
A Yes you can take part. The tournament is open to all.

I can check with the EIHA and/or Swindon to find your registration details and if you are not registered we can get you a Summer Licence nearer the time (this is for insurance reasons).
